EARTH

As part of my latest Element series, 'Earth' is the first of the Miniatures measuring in at 9.5x12".

No less dramatic due to its size, this original is densly textured - the most prominent of which is my newest pigment which has been created from ground Mussel shells. Accompanying it is a thick layer of charcoal and a base of powdered Oak root (taken from a fallen ancient oak near my home). 'Earth' by name, this dramatic work has river clay from Pen Y Fan and Helvellyn mountains as well as soils from the Munros Beinn Ghlas and one of my newest additions - Schiehallion. 

Finishing 'Earth' is a layer of genuine hand hammered Italian silver.
