'Eldur og ís' translates as Fire and Ice and no title embodies the raw volcanic landscape of Iceland, better. 
This incredibly dramatic original is the first of my Icelandic work to have such a range of colours and textures. The mix of black sands, lava flow, ocean, ice and sulphuric river is a result of the country's rare and incredible geothermal activity. 
Creating this piece are layers of sands, charcoal and coastal red clays, as well as earth from several Scottish Munros - Ben Moore, Stob Binnein and Schiehallion (the Fairy Hill of the Caledonians). 
'Eldur og ís' truly is a painting of passion, raw energy and a love of Icelands unique natural magic.
