A real statement piece! Created using Smudging sage for the greys, charcoal found in a firepit under a beautiful oak tree for the intense blacks and soils with sand from Gower for that beautiful biscuit brown at its centre. I also made the pigments into paint using rainwater, so theres a real sense of purity to this piece.
It has to be one of my favourites so far. So many layers went onto this canvas and I've used tools such as palette knives, wooden scrapers, sponges, brushes and my hands to manipulate the texture and paint. Finally, there's genuine 24 carat Latin Gold that threads it's way through the piece and adds an incredible warmth and lustre in the light.
