Icelandic for 'Sea Heart'.
The core of this piece is the turquoise ocean that surroundeds Icelands remarkable coastline. Heavily textured with charcoals and earth from the Scottish Munros Schiehallion, Ben Moore and Ben Nevis, the land rests on a dense mix of my newest red coastal clay.
Sjó hjarta raises the viewer above the landscape to watch the Arctic wear against its already weather worn shores.
Finishing Sjó hjarta is a layer of wood taken from a fallen ancient tree in the beautiful forest of Parc Le Breos, Gower.
This is the last of the coastal Icelandic pieces in the series and a truly dramatic one at that.
